Laird Smithson serves as Chief Operating Officer of Nobis Rehabilitation Partners’ Rehabilitation Management Services division, where he leads the development and expansion of Nobis’ hospital-based rehabilitation platform.
Laird brings more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience spanning hospital partnerships, post-acute care, and national healthcare organizations. He has a proven track record of building and scaling hospital-based rehabilitation services, leading complex multi-site operations, and developing strategic partnerships with health systems across the country.
Prior to joining Nobis, Laird held senior leadership roles across leading healthcare organizations, most notably serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Hospital Rehabilitation Services at Kindred Healthcare, where he led a national platform of more than 270 hospital-based programs. In that role, he oversaw operational performance, hospital client relationships, and the integration and growth of rehabilitation partnerships nationwide.
Most recently, Laird served in a senior leadership role at DaVita Kidney Care. He has also held leadership positions at Gentiva Health Services, OptumInsight (UnitedHealth Group), and AIM Healthcare, with a focus on strategy, financial performance, and operational improvement.
Laird holds a Master of Business Administration from Belmont University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Georgia.
